Whitney Elizabeth Houston was born on August 9th in 1963, at Newark New Jersey. She is a daughter of gospel music star Cissy Houston(nee Emily Lee Drinkard), and John Russell Houston Jr. Whitney Elizabeth Houston's mother Dionne Warswick is also a singer. In Newark, Whitney began singing in the church choir as a small child. at the age of 15, she joined her mother in backing vocals in Chaka's smash Im Every Woman from 1978. Jermaine, her mother and Lou Rawls were among the musicians she performed with. Her cover in 1981 was featured within Seventeen Magazine. Her first gig was as a lead vocalist with the New York-based funk band Material and it was the excellence of her work as a vocalist in the band that caught the attention of the major record labels, including Arista which she signed with in 1983, and with whom she stayed for the rest of her professional career. Her debut album Whitney Houston was released in 1985 and became the biggest-selling album of the debut artist. On the album, she had several smash singles, such as Saving all My Love for You How Will You Know That You're a Good Person and The Greatest Love of All. This helped her achieve seven US Top Ones consecutively. It was even better than the Beatles. The album was released in 1987 and has sold more than 25 million copies around the world. The Whitney 1987 release, with Where Do Broken Hearts and I Wanna Dance With Somebody as songs, helped to build on the successes she'd achieved. It came with The Bodyguard 1992 which cemented her standing as one of the most well-known artists in the world. While the movie and the actor's performance weren't well-received, the soundtrack album that featured her interpretation of Dolly Parton's I Will Always Love You was her top-selling single for long periods of time. It sold more than 44,000,000 copies worldwide. Her daughter Bobbi was born March of 1993, the year after she wed Bobby Brown. In 1996, the drug use that's been so well documented began.
Dana Bash or Dana Ruth Schwartz as she's more popularly known as, is an American journalist and political analyst at CNN.
