April Ross

April Ross was one of the few female beach volleyball athletes who earned medals in more than one Olympics. Alix Klineman is a new Olympian and is set to join the team in Tokyo. Ross wants to achieve more than her initial Olympic medal. Since she's 39 years old and has a long way to go, this could be her final chance. But she's convinced that the top awards are at hand. If we play our top or play well I feel like we'll win the gold medal Ross declared on NBC Boston. In addition, I'll try the chance to have luck. Ross, who was born 1982 and lived within Costa Mesa California with her siblings and parents, started playing sports at Newport Harbor High School. In addition to participating in a variety of sports, Ross also attended Newport Harbor High School. In addition to indoor volleyball, she played basketball and jogged track in her pre-college days. When she played in the final sport she stood out. In her college volleyball season, according to her college profile, she played as an outside-hitter, middle-blocker and setter. Gatorade Circle Of Champions named her the National Player 1999. She also received her the Orange County Athlete of the of the year for volleyball. Ross Klineman and Ross may have started working together at the beginning of 2017, but Ross had already been a seasoned volleyball player before they teamed up. Actually Ross has won a number of significant tournaments during her time along with her two teammates. One is a volleyball legend. From 2007-2013 she played together with Jennifer Kessy who more recently played the role of Klineman's coach. Ross, Kessy's fellow teammate who won the world title alongside Kessy in 2009, was also significant on the an international level. In 2012, the pair took silver in London's Olympics. Misty Maytreanor (Jennings) as well as Misty Maytreanor took home gold beating them to it. Ross Jennings took over for May-Treanor after she had retired. They went on to earn the bronze medal in beach volleyball at the Rio Olympics in 2016. Ross was a Trojans player for the USC during her college days, the years prior to her professional career. Ross had an impressive run in the college. Her freshman year in 2000 earned her the Pac-10 as well as NCAA Freshman's of the Year awards and be an All-American. In addition, she helped her Trojans to reach the Final Four. In her sophomore year, she experienced a devastating personal setback, but she was able to repeat as an All-American. Over her final two years in the program she led the Trojans towards the top of the mountain winning consecutive national championships. As an individual Ross established her status in the history books by winning the Honda Sports Award for 2003-04. This prize was awarded to the best female college volleyball players across the country. Ross majored in International Relations at USC. Unfortunately Ross mom Margie was not able to witness Ross's daughter reach the very top of beach volleyball stardom. When Ross was a sophomore studying at USC her mother passed away due to breast cancer. However, she continues to remember her deceased parent close and dear. Margie is a beach lover as well as in her everyday life, is still a source of inspiration for her.
